Ako mismo, ikaw ba?

I recently got an Ako Mismo (roughly translated as: I, Myself will...) dogtag. Kinda cool walking around the Metro with people staring at the rare (rare?) Ako Mismo item...

It comes in a simple plastic packaging and consists of:

1. A chain

2. Two tags - a red one with Ako Mismo print on both sides, and a black one with a red triangle with a white star in the middle (sort of reminds you of the old revolutionary Philippine flags), yes printed on both sides too.

3. Three white sheets of glossy paper designed to protect the tags from each others' sharp edges.

But I made some changes...

Change No. 1: I replaced the original chain with a larger one since the original kinda chokes me. So I replaced it with the chain that used to hold my neck knife before.

Change No. 2: I added a smaller chain to hold the tags since the large chain would not fit on the tags' holes.

Change No. 3: I added a "washer" which i took out from the chassis of an old slot car so that the 2 tags will not stick to each other...

Yes, there was a slight change in the appearance compared to the original. But the message is still there. Being responsible for any commitment you have posted. An advocacy for change, a transformation...

However though, there are skeptics about the campaign. Yes, I am one. I want to see the change grow, with or without the campaign. It will simply mean nothing by posting the pledge or the commitment without any action!

NO, I did not sign up in the Ako Mismo website. I feel uneasy giving my personal information over the net. In my point of view, we don't have to join any organization to effect change. We simply must be true to the calling of being sensible and responsible human beings.

It's been our goal to have good governance, repsonsible citizens, and be caring people. It will only remain a dream IF we don't do anything about it.

You'd ask, why wear the Ako Mismo dogtag? Haha! Because I'm IN, period!

So, when do you want to effect change?
